ION-X HALO-MAX Thruster to Fly on CNES IOD/IOV ProgrammE
ION-X will participate in the In-Orbit Demonstration & Validation (IOD/IOV) programme led by the French Space Agency CNES. The programme aims to support the qualification of advanced space technologies by enabling coordinated testing within an operational satellite mission framework.
ION-X will provide HALO-MAX, its newest ionic liquid electrospray propulsion system. Building on the same proven technology and architecture as HALO-100X, HALO-MAX features an enlarged propellant tank, enabling higher total impulse for extended manoeuvring capability and longer operational lifetimes of small satellites.
The programme brings together several payloads from ACTIA, Airbus Defence and Space, STEEL Electronique, and CYSEC on a satellite platform provided by U-Space. This collaboration will support the delivery of reliable space capabilities developed in France for future small satellite missions.
This contract was funded by the French Government as part of ‘France 2030’.
